Aspiring presidential candidate Noël Tshiani has noted with dismay the excessive and costly trips abroad made by government officials in the Félix Tshisekedi while the situation in the DR Congo continues to worsen.
Tshiani regrets that government officials now race to make trips aboard instead of rushing to the aid of its people who have been abandoned.
“Where are we going Frankly, I have never seen a country where all the officials compete to travel abroad. All the heads of institutions are still traveling, but on the ground, nothing good is palpable,” Tshiani wrote on X (formerly Twitter).
Tshiani revealed that he been disappointed to note that the Tshisekedi government had failed to take any form of development areas in the country like Lomami Province since coming into power.
“I have just returned from a short trip to the Lomami province where I noticed that there has been no major development initiative since 2019,” he said.
Tshiani added: “Currently my back hurts a lot because the Mbuji Mayi road – Ngandajika is so bad that the 4×4 car took 4 and a half hours for a distance of 90 kilometers,” he said.
Tshiani wondered why the Tshisekedi regime had neglected areas like Lomami which had great potential in the area of agriculture that could contribute to the nation’s food basket.
“Traveling by road is a nightmare in an agricultural province while the government is happy to import bags of flour or corn from Zambia when we could cultivate to produce corn locally,” Tshiani wrote.
The opposition leader further stressed that the feeling amongst the Congolese population was that government had abandoned them despite the numerous speeches that trigger now action from the state.
“The impression is that the population is abandoned to its sad fate and no longer knows which way to turn despite the slogans and speeches of officials who seem distracted by other things. Does the DRC know what it is doing or really wants?” he quizzed.
