Former Minister of Vocational Training Antoinette Kipulu Kabenga has been banned from leaving the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Kipulu is being investigated by the General Inspectorate of Finance (IGF) for alleged embezzlement of public funds.
According to a document signed by IGF Director General Jules Alingete, Kipulu is being investigated and required to give “justification of the amounts released by the Public Treasury for the construction of vocational training centers, particularly in the provinces of Kasai, Kasai Central, Kasai Oriental, Sankuru and Lomami, indicating that no achievement on the ground has been able to justify the level of financial execution of these different projects.”
Kipulu Minister of Vocational Training in the Jean-Michel Sama Lukonde government from 2021 to 2023.
She becomes the second former Minister in the Sama Lukonde government to be banned from exiting the country pending investigations in alleged embezzlement of public funds after Nicolas Kazadi, the former Minister of Finance, who is also currently being investigated.
