NO HOPE FOR YOUTHS: Tshisekedi Tells Congolese Youths They’re on Their Own, Must Create Jobs For Themselves

Democratic Republic of Congo president Félix Tshisekedi has told youths in the country to create their own employment as his government does not have anything to offer them.

Speaking in front of huge crowds Tshikapa city of Kasaï Province on Sunday, Tshisekedi literally shattered the young people’s hopes as he urged them to take their destiny into their own hands and create employment opportunities as his government cannot provide work for everyone.

“I call on all brave youth to join our army to safeguard the integrity of our country. Youth must learn to create employment, because the state cannot do everything to provide employment to every citizen,” Tshisekedi said.

Tshisekedi has visited Tshikapa for the first time since the start of his term, a period during which no major or single developmental project has yet been inaugurated in the part of the country.

DR Congo’s rate of unemployment continues to soar especially amongst the young leading to serious effects such as crime and drug abuse in communities.
