A two-year old child, only identified as Dieumerci, has been found dead following heavy rains that in Kinshasa on Saturday morning, causing severe flooding in a number of neighborhoods in the capital city.
The child’s body was discovered in the late afternoon’s of Saturday in the Immo Congo neighborhood, located in the commune of Kalamu.
Dieumerci had been with his parents in their house before he was swept away by the waters when the walls collapsed.
After several hours of searching in a flooded plot, volunteers found his lifeless body, plunging the community into turmoil.
