DRC ELECTIONS: Fayulu Continues to Press CENI With Demands Ahead of December

Opposition Engagement pour la Citoyenneté et le Développement (ECIDe) President Martin Fayulu has sent a letter to the DR Congo electoral board, CENI, with a list of demands in the electoral process ahead of the Presidential Polls set for December.

In a letter addressed to CENI, Fayulu demands for an external audit to be conducted into the voter registration, a request the electoral previously rejected.

“An external audit of the electoral file by a certified organization or the citizen audit as requested by the MOE CENCO-ECt, guarantee of trust and transparency of the electoral process” Fayulu and his camp have demanded.

As the electoral code stipulates, the ECiDé leader has urged CENI to publish the final list of voters on the commission’s website.

“The publication of the final list of voters and the availability of the national electoral file on the CENI website, in accordance with article 8 paragraphs 1, 2 and 3 of the electoral law.”

Fayulu has also championed need for urgent dialogue between CENI and stakeholders in the electoral process.

“The establishment, as a matter of urgency, of a real consultation framework between the CENI and the stakeholders in the electoral process” the letter reads.

To add, Fayulu calls for “timely accreditation of national and international observers” as well as “the abandonment of the aggregation and transmission of results by the ‘voting machine’ otherwise known as ‘electronic voting device.”
