The DRC Electoral Commission, CENI has officially concluded the filing in of nominations by candidates in the 20th December 2023 Presidential Elections.
A total of 24 candidates including one female, Marie Josée Ifoku of the AENC party, have successfully filed in their nomination as the presidential race heats up.
The electoral process is now set to enter next crucial step from October 9 to 14, 2023 as candidates will have the opportunity to withdraw or replace their candidacy files for the presidential election.
The next stage in the electoral process will be the deliberation process by the plenary assembly who will assess the candidacies submitted before the final list is published on October 18 and 19, 2023.
The rest of the operational timeline relating to candidacies for the presidential election is as follows:
From October 9 to 14, 2023: Withdrawal or replacement of presidential election candidacy files.
From October 18 to 19, 2023: Deliberation by the Plenary Assembly and publication of the provisional list of candidates for President of the Republic by the CENI.
From October 20 to 22, 2023: Notification to President of the Republic candidates declared inadmissible.
From October 23 to November 1, 2023: Filing and processing of appeals contesting the lists of candidates for the presidential election before the Constitutional Court.
From November 2 to 4, 2023: Notification to the CENI of the judgments of the CENI Constitutional Court.
From November 5 to 8, 2023: Taking into account by the CENI of the judgments of the Constitutional Court.
November 18, 2023: Publication of the final list of candidates for the presidential election in accordance with article 110 of the electoral law.
