WINLESS RUN CONTINUES: Mazembe Suffer Defeat to Lupopo in Lubumbashi Derby

TP Mazembe’s underwhelming start to the 2024/25 season has continued as the reigning champions succumbed to a 1-0 defeat to Lubumbashi city rivals Saint-Eloi Lupopo in a Ligue 1 match played at the Frederic Kibassa Maliba Stadium today.

Despite having dominated possession in the match, a first-half strike by Lise Nyembo Ntumba condemned Mazembe to defeat and gave Lupopo all three points in a fierce contest.

Nyembo beat Mazembe’s Senegalese goalkeeper Aliou Badara Faty with a well taken left-footed finish in the 28th minute to earn the city’s bragging rights for Lupopo.

Although they hold two games in hand, Mazembe remain without a victory after three matches played having drawn their first two fixtures prior to this Sunday’s loss.
