WAR-TORN GOMA COMES ALIVE: Katumbi Arrives In War-Ravaged Goma

Opposition candidate Moïse Katumbi has probably demonstrated how he intends to end the insecurities in the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo with the war-ravaged city of Goma, North Kivu Province erupting into jubilation following his arrival this Thursday.

Katumbi’s arrival has seen business in Goma come to a standstill with scores of joyous residents leaving their homes onto the streets that are usually characterized by a tense atmosphere due to an ongoing territorial war between armed groups and the army.

The Candidate Number 3 touched down at Goma Airport this afternoon where he was welcomed by thousands of locals who celebrated his arrival.

Katumbi, in the company of his opposition allies Matata Ponyo Mapon, Franck Diongo and Seth Kikuni, have since made their way to Afia Stadium which is packed to the rafters.

Local media outlets report that well over 375,000 people have so far turned up to meet Katumbi and his opposition allies this afternoon.
