WAR IN THE EAST: New Battalion of Uganda and Rwanda Army Elements Arrive in North Kivu to Reinforce M23

DR Congo is rapidly losing the fight to protect its population and territories from the M23 rebels that continues to gain massive support from the former’s neighbouring countries.

A battalion of over 450 soldiers from the Ugandan army and five trucks carrying Rwandan army soldiers and weapons have been spotted in the territories of North Kivu Province.

The soldiers have been deployed in the territories of Beni-Butembo and the far south region of Saké.

The two territories were earlier occupied by the M23 rebels who have since moved into more advanced territories as they continue to edge closer to the strategic city of Goma.

The Civil Society in the province have complained that the M23 and its supporting forces from Uganda and Rwanda have disregarded the humanitarian truce signed at the proposal of the US government.
