[VIDEO] MEALIE MEAL CRISIS: Woman In Lubumbashi Fractures Leg Trying To Get Rare Commodity

A woman early this week fractured her leg in a stampede arising from the commotion in trying to buy mealie meal for her family.

The confusion happened in Kamalondo, Lubumbashi where people had gathered to buy mealie meal which has become scarce in the second largest city.

Mealie meal is the staple food for Grand Katanga and other parts of Congo.

The commodity is rare and has become expensive as demand has outsriped supply.

Watch the video as the woman cries in agony following the stampede.
