A chilling experience of a driver at Kanyaka, an area in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s Katanga province, when thugs smashed the windscreen of a moving truck is caught on camera.
Police officers are not too far away from this location but they watch thugs engage in such acts which sometimes compel drivers to stop their vehicles so that they are robbed.
Truck drivers from Zambia, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, South Africa, Malawi, Mozambique and Namibia, among other SADC countries have repeatedly complained about the security and safety issues ferry goods in and out of the DRC.
“This is how violent DRC is on foreign truck drivers. It’s a country with lawlessness,” said one of the drivers.
President Felix Tshisekedi has been called upon to improve the safety of truck drivers driving in that country.
