Former Prime Minister Augustin Matata Ponyo says the heavy response by police on an opposition demonstration is the first in over 25 years.

Ponyo says the police brutality on citizens in Kinshasa today was worse than what was experienced under Joseph Kabila.

The protest was organized by Martin Fayulu, Ponyo, Delly Sessanga and Moise Katumbi to highlight chaotic electoral process, high cost of living, east war and insecurity across the country.
