A former ally of President Felix Tshisekedi, Jean Marc Kabund, says the Congolese leader cares less about the suffering of the population as he was concerned with enjoying an opulent lifestyle in Kinshasa.
Kabund, who took over the ruling party UDPS leadership when he occupied the power General Secretary post and President of the National Assembly before he fell out with Tshisekedi, says the country’s leader was a let down.
During a press briefing, Kabund said Tshisekedi leadership was full of failures that was relying on scapegoats to manage the country.
He said Tshisekedi had resorted to blaming everyone but himself for the state of the country.
Kabund cites instances in which Tshisekedi has blamed Rwanda President Paul Kagame for the crisis in east Congo in the same way that he is trying to implicate Ensemble pour la République leader Moise Katumbi in the chaos.
He said going by Tshisekedi’s performance thus far, Congolese had no reason to keep him in power as he had clearly failed.
It’s not the first time Kabund has strongly condemned the management style of his one time boss.
In August 2022, Kabund was arrested after being accused of contempt of the head of state for a speech in which he called Tshisekedi “a danger”.
