DR Congo former rebel leader Jean-Pierre Bemba is breathing fire after being betrayed by imposter president Felix Tshisekedi, his partner in crime, in the formation of the new government.
Bemba who is leader of the Movement for the Liberation of the Congo (MLC) party, formed an alliance with Tshisekedi in the Union Sacree to support the latter in his bid for re-election in the 20 December elections.
The now former deputy prime minister for defence and his MLC party were handed a specific task to attack and assassinate popular opposition leader and strongest presidential challenger Moise Katumbi during the campaigns with Tshisekedi promising to reward them with important roles in his new government to be formed.
However, Bemba has been left disappointed and fuming at Tshisekedi who has failed to keep his end of the bargain with the war crimes ex-convict and his MLC party almost completely sidelined from his new government.
Bemba has been replaced from his deputy prime minister of defence role in the new governement and transferred to a peripheric Ministry of Transport in the same capacity.
The MLC party had been expecting to have at least three of their members rewarded with ministerial roles and considers Tshisekedi’s move to replace their leader as betrayal.
Bemba has also been angered by the fact that he was completely overlooked not in the consultations concerning the formation of the new government.
