TSHISEKEDI THE TRIBALIST: Tshisekedi Inciting Unsustainable Civil War With His Comments About “Swahili-Speaking” Candidates

Outgoing President Fèlix Tshisekedi has just started laying ground for a civil war in the Democratic Republic of Congo following the recent tribalistic comments he made at his campaign rally in Lubumbashi, ex-CENI President Corneille Nangaa says.

At a night rally on Tuesday, Tshisekedi urged the Lubumbashi population to reject candidates that speak swahili (the Katangese) claiming they did not belong to the amongst the Congolese.

Nangaa has since condemned the divisive comments that were likely to incite tensions between the Katangese and Kasai people.

“I denounce this open-air glottophobia uttered Tuesday evening in Lubumbashi by Mr. TSHISEKEDI” Nangaa writes.

“The linguistic discrimination that he included as an electoral campaign theme against Kiswahili-speaking communities in a land of Swahili speakers (Katangese) is extremely serious and lays the foundations for an unsustainable civil war” he wrote.

Tshisekedi has allocated tribalistic and xenophobic attacks on fellow candidates a major part in his speeches while on the campaign trail as opposed spelling out his vision for the DR Congo.
