Democratic Republic of Congo incompetent leader Félix Tshisekedi has bowed to the M23 rebels who have continued to gain control of strategic territories in the eastern province of North Kivu.
Tshisekedi has since turned to Angola to initiate peace negotiations with Rwanda who are said to be the main supporters of the rebels and their operations in the east.
The Congolese leader had previously denied having to negotiate with Rwanda and its President Paul Kagame whom he also accused of being an instigator of war and aggression.
Last week, Tshisekedi met Angolan President Joao Lourenço, the African Union (AU) appointed mediator for dialogue between DRC and Rwanda, during the nation’s 64th independence day celebrations and expressed his desire to urgently begin negotiations with Rwanda as the M23 continue to wreck havoc for him.
On Thursday, July 4, 2024, Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs Tete Antonio arrived in Kinshasa to meet the new head of Congolese diplomacy Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner who has been tasked by Tshisekedi to expedite the process of negotiations.
The two Ministers discussed details of a proposed direct meeting between Tshisekedi and Kagame in the coming days.
