After an impressive 2022/23 season in Greece, the French-born Les Leopards marksman has caught the attention of clubs across Europe’s elite leagues.
Congolese international striker Cedric Bakambu looks set to emerge as hot transfer target for clubs in Italy, Germany and Spain after a fine season this term with Greek champions Olympiakos.
The 32-year old marksman has rekindled his career in Greece since his arrival in September, 2022 after a lacklustre stint in France with Olympique Marseille.
Bakambu leads the scorers’ chart in the Greek top-flight with 18 goals so far but is yet to be offered a new contract at Olympiakos with his deal set run out at the end of the current season.
Clubs across Europe have since been alerted of Bakambu’s situation in Greece and are reportedly preparing to swoop for the former Villarreal superstar.
According Italian transfer news site, Tutto Mercato, Serie A sides Atalanta and Fiorentina have both set their sights on making a move for Bakambu.
Meanwhile, French tabloid, L’Equipe also reports that clubs from the German Bundesliga as well as La Liga in Spain are also attentive to the player’s current state at Olympiakos.
Bakambu’s current market value sits at €5 million and is said to be currently commands an annual salary of over €1.3 million (over FCFA 8.5 million) in Greece.
