THEY WILL APOLOGIZE: Corneille Nangaa Vows to Make Tshisekedi’s Military Court Apologize for Sentencing Him to Death in Absentia

Corneille Nangaa, a former Independent Electoral Commission (CENI) President and leader of rebel movement Alliance Fleuve du Congo (AFC), says those responsible for sentencing him to death while in absentia will be made to pay.

The DR Congo Military Court recently sentenced Nangaa to death while he remains unbound and continues to take charge of several territories with the M23 rebels in the country’s eastern region.

In response to news of his absurd sentencing, Nangaa says the trial opened against him is a sign of the government and President Félix Tshisekedi are intimidated by his recent advancement in the east.

“When a power becomes afraid, it is because it sees its fall coming. And his downfall is this parody of trials, followed by obsequious sentences” Nangaa writes on X.

“It is the expression of the fear of a regime in dire straits, which sees its decline coming. These sentences only bind and concern those who imposed them.”

Nangaa promises to bring the abusers of the rule of law to justice once he gains power and liberates the country as his AFC movement continues to gain more power.

“They will, after liberation, be forced to return and ask for forgiveness for having carried out a manifestly illegal order, intended to please a crooked autocrat, sick and charlatan to boot. This brings Alliance Fleuve Congo closer to victory. And we hold on! The constitutional revolution never retreats. Only struggle liberates!” Nangaa declared.
