As the 2022-2023 school year school year ends in a few weeks, teachers in several educational zones of nearly 11 territories in the provinces of Kasaï, Equateur and Grand Bandundu have gone three months without pay.
The Trade Union Confederation of Congo (CSC) says the situation has been caused by the slow rate at which financial institutions are releasing the money.
The funds are released to Caritas who are responsible for paying the teachers in the affected areas.
In a plea on Saturday June 10, Sylvain Nkashama, permanent representative of the Trade Union Confederation of Congo in the Grand Kasaï area, has asked the government to intervene and settle the situation.
