A 21-year-old Congolese student, Immaculate Mwaluke Muhemedi, has been stabbed to death.
Immaculate, a student at the University of Hope of Africa in Bujumbura, met her fate on Monday night when a bandit who wanted to grab her phone landed a knife in her body.
She is reported to have walked out of her residence in Gahahe (Mutimbuzi town) to purchase airtime for her phone when she met her assailant after which she was taken to the hospital.
Murders of women and young girls have been increasing in Burundi since 2020. The authorities in the country have paid a blind eye.
