DR Congo’s ruthless leader Félix Tshisekedi has openly supported his government’s re-introduction of the death sentence.
Tshisekedi’s government has been widely criticized for its non-respect for human rights organisations with the international community continuing to call abolition of the death sentence.
During an occasion held to exchanging wishes with diplomats accredited in the DR Congo,Tshisekedi has defended the death sentence in DR Congo stating that will only apply to the offenses of “terrorism” and “treason” within the army.
Over 100 civilians have been killed through the death sentence even in cases where judgement has not been served.
For Tshisekedi, there will be no peace and sustainable development in the DR Congo without a harsh and firm judicial system.
