SANCTIONED: AS Vita Incur FIFA’s Wrath

With just days remaining before the start of the 2023/24 TotalEnergies CAF Champions League, DR Congo’s envoys AS Vita Club have been sanctioned by the world football governing body FIFA for failure to honour contractual obligations.

The FIFA legal disputes committee have slapped Dauphin Noirs with a transfer ban for the next recruitment window for failure to honour its obligations towards payment of former players as well as coaches’ wages.

However, Vita have the chance to have the ban lifted should they pay the monies owed to their former players and coaches within the stipulated period.

Failure to clear the debts will mean Vita will have to see out the entire with same players that have been registered for their CAF campaign.

The Dauphin Noirs face Angolan giants Premeiro de Agosto on August 20 in the first leg of the Champions League.

Vita becomes the second club to face FIFA sanctions after DC Motema Pembe who have also been banned from registering players and have since withdrawn participation in the CAF Confederation Cup.
