The new AFC/M23 politico-military coalition has taken in over 40,000 Congo Armed Forces (FARDC) troops to go for re-training before being recruited in the rebel movement’s army.
A group of over 40,000 FARDC soldiers who surrendered arms to the M23 in Goma this week have since been transferred to a an new military base to commence their training.
The soldiers will first be taken to Rumangabo Military Training Centre in Rutshuru territory for brainwashing before being re-deployed in different M23 army bases of North Kivu Province.
The AFC/M23 have pledged to ensure that the soldiers are well accommodated, fed and paid on a monthly basis unlike their past sufferings under Félix Tshisekedi who paid them peanuts amounting to just US$100 per month.
