REAL TERRORISTS ARE ADF: Rwanda Accuse DRC of Diverting International Community’s Attention From Real Enemies

Rwanda has told the United Nations (UN) Security Council that DR Congo has chosen to place less importance on real terrorists of the nation, the ADF rebels and not the M23 fighters.

Rwanda’s Minister of Foreign & International Cooperation Olivier Nduhungirehe openly told the UN Security Council that the DR Congo has chosen to divert the attention of the international community from Ugandan terrorists (ADF) operating in eastern Congolese territory.

Nduhungirehe says the DR Congo are doing this by portraying as a terrorist group, the M23, who are just “a group fighting to protect a persecuted Congolese community.”

“The ADF, identified as one of the groups responsible for the most flagrant human rights violations in the DRC, has claimed the lives of more than 650 civilians since June 2024, including more than 200 in the Beni region alone,” Nduhungirehe said.

He further argued that for several decades, the Tutsi community, who are defended by the M23, has faced “systematic marginalization” and hence forced many of them to seek refuge in neighboring countries, including Rwanda, which hosts more than 100,000 refugees.
