RACE FOR PRESIDENT: Vital Kamerhe Presents Himself as Tshisekedi’s Heir at Parliamentary Assembly Canada

….as The Race for Succession Opens

Barely just over six months after his re-election as President, discussions about the post-Tshisekedi era have already commenced in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s political circles.

In the race to replace Félix Tshisekedi, National Assembly President Vital Kamerhe looks the most ambitious and determined to unseat and his one-time closest ally for whom he holds a chunk of bitterness.

Kamerhe secretly keeps in his heart the resentment for Tshisekedi which emanates from the humiliations he endured and the two years spent in prison following accusations of embezzlement that were later lifted.

The leader of the UNC party emphatically asserts to all and sundry that he is now the second person in the State and ready to send Tshisekedi into retirement.

During his recent trip to Canada, Kamerhe moved to steal the limelight at the Parliamentary Assembly Summit for Francophone nations to mark his place as the regime’s heir.

Leading a delegation of twenty people, Kamerhe made a remarkable entrance into the forum, almost worthy of the steps of the Cannes Film Festival, to signify his return to the political forefront.

Kamerhe’s trip to Canada costed the Congolese Treasury something more than a million dollars.

Taking advantage of his mission to Canada, the President of the Upper House did not fail to pass discreetly through New York to strengthen his American networks ahead of his presidential bid.

Before returning to the DR Congo, the Kamerhe and his spouse, Hamidah Shatur, will also make a brief stop over in Paris, France to establish more political contacts but also check on their real estate investments.

Vital Kamerhe is determined to weave his web. He is focused on the 2028 presidential election and he does not even consider Tshisekedi to be a potential obstacle in his ambitions.
