The Government of the DR Congo are pressurizing the international community to apply sanctions on Rwanda whom it accuses of supporting the M23 rebels.
The Congolese government, through the Ministry of Foreign Affairs & International Cooperation, urged the international community to take action against Rwanda on basis of a report by UN Group of Experts who revealed that the latter’s elements are present in North Kivu.
According to the document, between 3,000 and 4,000 Rwandan soldiers are fighting alongside the M23 forces on the ground.
The report states that without this Rwanda’s
military support, the rebels would not have been able to advance so quickly.
