PAYING SOLDIERS PEANUTS: Tshisekedi Announces US$500 Salary Increase For Soldiers

Democratic Republic of Congo’s impostor president Félix Tshisekedi has admitted that the Congolese Armed Forces (FARDC) soldiers have under his reign been underpaid and demotivated.

Tshisekedi has admitted that his government had been paying soldiers deployed at the war front as low as US$100 each per month while expecting them to defeat the AFC/M23 rebels.

Speaking in an interview with the newspaper Le Figaro, Tshisekedi said he had since decided to increase the soldiers’ salaries up to US$500 in a bid to reform and motivate the forces in the midst of growing insecurities.

“Its a hodgepodge that must now be transformed into a single body, with a single mindset,” Tshisekedi said.

Tshisekedi’s government, under which embezzlement of public funds has risen sharply, has for a long time prioritize other matters over the urgent issue of national security.

The neglect of the Congolese army by Tshisekedi and his government has resulted in the nation losing the entire eastern region to the AFC/M23 rebels.
