DR Congo national team head coach Sebastien Desabre has availed his next line of action for the Leopards following a successful outing at the 2023 TotalEnergies Africa Cup of Nations in Ivory Coast.
Desabre guided the Leopards to the semi-finals where they lost to eventual winners Ivory Coast by a 1-0 scoreline in what was a decent run at the tournament.
Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday after returning to Kinshasa, Desabre said he would be focusing on strengthening his side further in readiness for the upcoming assignments.
“We had an interview with the National Technical Director to think about what would allow us to put things in place at the local level” Desabre said.
The Frenchman revealed that he was set to invite played based locally and those plying their trades in different African leagues for assessment as part of his plan to incorporate and strengthen the Leopards roaster with new players.
“We are currently looking for a date to organize a training course with players playing in the country and in Africa in order to to restart the evaluation within the framework of selection A and B” he said.
The Leopards’ next competitive assignments come up in June as they face deposed African champions Senegal and Togo in back-to-back 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.
