Congolese international striker Fiston Mayele Kalala finally opened his goal account for his new club, Pyramids FC in Egypt over the weekend after a complicated start to his stint in North Africa.
Kalala who joined Pyramids in a big money move after a scintillating season with Tanzanian side Yanga SC, had gone without a goal in his first five games for the Egyptians.
The Leopards marksman finally got off the mark for the Egyptian moneybags as he scored an important and only winning goal in their 1-0 victory over ENPPI SC in a domestic league encounter.
Kalala who was in coach Jaime Pacheco’s starting eleven, put Pyramids in front as he connected from teammate Mohamed Hamdy Sharaf’s pass after 13 minutes played in the WE Premier League encounter at the 30 June Stadium in Cairo.
The DRC international lasted on the field until the 61st minute when he was withdrawn for Burkinabe international Blati Toure.
Kalala is now expected to return to Kinshasa to sort out some administrative issues before flying out to Portugal for the Leopards’ international friendlies against New Zealand and Angola.
