NONSENSICAL JUDICIAL SYSTEM: Trial Against Salomon Kalonda Closed as Military Court Declares Itself Incompetent

Democratic Republic of Congo’s Military Court has declared itself incompetent to preside over a case involving opposition leader Moïse Katumbi’s special advisor Salomon Kalonda Della.

Kalonda, released only earlier this year in March, spent 11 months in prison after being unlawfully accused of several trumped up charges including conniving with rebels to overthrow Félix Tshisekedi.

After failing to prove the false allegations levelled against him, the Military Court finally closed the case against Kalonda who was referred to as “Tshisekedi’s personal prisoner” during his time in incarceration.

On Monday, the Military Court passed its judgement over the case and stated that it was not competent enough to trial Kalonda, now an elected senator of Maniema.
