A new round of intense fighting and exchange of gunfire has been reported at several battle fronts in different regions of North Kivu Province since the early hours of Monday.
Fighting had initially started out from Masisi territory in North Kivu with the clashes now escalating into Kalehe of neighbouring South Kivu Province.
Local sources have indicated that clashes broke out in the early hours of Monday after the M23 rebels were attacked while making their way to Mugunga which is situated near the strategic city of Goma.
FARDC and Wazalendo militia fighters are said to have dropped two bombs at a displaced people’s camp although no death toll has been recorded.
