National Assembly President Vital Kamerhe has met President Félix Tshisekedi to discuss the impending issue of the proposed change or revision of the National Constitution.
On Monday, Kamerhe paid courtesy on Tshisekedi, his political ally, at the Palais de la Nation to discuss the most critical issue in the DR Congo at the moment.
After a two hour meeting, Kamerhe spoke to the highly expectant reporters but did not state whether he is for or against Tshisekedi’s proposal to change the constitution.
Kamerhe rather only submitted that now is not the time for agitation.
He further explained that he is “convinced” that Tshisekedi is not making the subject a question of life or death to drag on in power.
Kamerhe said, due to his capacity as head of the National Assembly, he “cannot take a position before the conclusions of the commission”, but insisted that the constitution recognizes the Head of State capacity to initiate a constitutional revision.
For now Tshisekedi remains uncertain about whether he will get support from his main political ally.
