Democratic Republic of Congo international & Olympique Marseille defender Chancel Mbemba has been named among the final three shortlisted nominees for the 2023 edition of the prestigious Marc Vivien Foé Prize.
The Marc Vivien Foé Prize is an award in honour of the late Marc-Vivien Foé and is awarded to the best African player in the French top-flight.
Having already been named among the Best 11 African players in Ligue 1, Mbemba was named on the award’s three-man shortlist released by the Radio France Internationale (RFI) on Friday.
Mbemba has been shortlisted alongside Nigerian striker Terem Moffi of OGC Nice and Ivorian Seko Fofana of RC Lens to complete the trident.
The 28-year old central defender has put in solid performances for Marseille this season to help the club to it’s current third position on the Ligue 1 table.
Mbemba has so far made 34 appearances and found the back of the net four times this season for Marseille.
