The Congolese Army (FARDC) have announced that it has had a group of its soldiers captured by M23 in North Kivu.
The army revealed that the soldiers were attacked and captured by the rebels while they had been keeping guard of their settlement.
“The Front-North Operations Command praises the courage of these captured FARDC soldiers and denounces all kinds of torture that the M23 terrorists inflict on them with the aim of forcing them to relay false facts,” a press release by the army reads.
The M23 have continued to seize and gain major control of large and strategic territories in eastern DRC with the unequipped and demotivated army soldiers failing to contain the rebels.
