Honorary former DR Congo President Joseph Kabila has maintained his silence and absence from the face of the Congolese political scenery.

Kabila who is a life senator, was once again absent from the congress which has continued raise many questions amongst the Congolese population.

Known for his discretion and silence on the major political issues of the country, Joseph Kabila maintains his usual reserve.

While his successor, Félix Tshisekedi, spoke at the congress, the absence of the enigmatic Kabila leaves a void and sparks speculation within the Congolese political scene.

His silence on hot topics such as the aggression in the east by Corneille Nangaa and his M23 rebels and the debate on the revision of the constitution is remarkable.

The Congolese still eagerly await for the former president to take a position on these questions which are crucial to the country’s future.

In the absence of a single statement from Joseph Kabila, his political influence and his weight behind the scenes of power continue to raise questions and suppositions within the Congolese political class.
