LOSING THE BATTLE: National Intelligence Urge Tshisekedi to Negotiate with Nangaa

The National Intelligence Authorities (ANR) have written to the president Félix Tshisekedi calling on him to come to a round table meeting with Alliance Fleuve du Congo (AFC) leader Corneille Nangaa.

According to a source at ANR, the intelligence service has expressed worry to Tshisekedi about the continued advancement of the M23.

Tshisekedi has received the submission from ANR but remains adamant about fighting Nangaa’s AFC/M23 forces despite his army’s lack of capacity.

Nangaa has threatened to take control of North Kivu’s strategic city of Goma this week following recent ambush by the Congolese forces in Masisi territory.

Nangaa and his AFC/M23 forces currently occupy at least 50% of North Kivu region and recruited over 100 soldiers from the Congolese forces this past week.
