LINKING UP THE DRC: Katumbi Avails Plan For Road Project That Will Connect Seven Key Provinces

Opposition common candidate Moïse Katumbi says he plans to launch a 4000 km road project that would link as many as seven provinces as part of his strategic plan to improve trade in the country.

Katumbi, who is one of the favourites to win the presidential race in the upcoming 2023 General Elections, has set out plans to conduct a number of developmental projects that will include the construction of roads.

The 4000 km stretch will link the DRC capital Kinshasa to the regions of South and North Kivu, Maniema, Great Katanga, Great Kasai as well as Great Bandundu respectively.

“I aim to build 4000 km of road over 5 years, linking the former eastern province to Kinshasa via NORTH and SOUTH KIVU, MANIEMA, GRAND KATANGA, GRAND KASAÏ and GRAND BANDUNDU” Katumbi wrote on X (formerly Twitter).

Meanwhile, Katumbi also revealed that he will set aside US$6 billion into the agriculture and other key business sectors in order to improve the economy of the the DRC.

“I will also invest $6 billion in opening up our provinces in order to boost agriculture and promote trade between our 26 provinces” he wrote.

Katumbi, a successful businessman, has set out major strategic plans that he aims to employ in order to resuscitate the Congolese economy once elected as president of the country in the 20 December polls.

The DRC is known for some of the worst and most dangerous road networks in the world.
