DR Congo champions TP Mazembe have been held to a 1-1 draw by Tanzanian side Yanga SC who scored at the nick of time to rescue a point.
Mazembe went into this Saturday’s Group A encounter looking for their first win in the TotalEnergies CAF Champions League against the Tanzanians in Lubumbashi.
Malian attacker Cheick Fofana found the back of the net in the 41st minute to put Mazembe in charge of the scoreboard.
Lamine N’diaye’s charges defended their lead resiliently until the last minute when Zimbabwean striker Prince Dube broke Mazembe’s hearts.
Dube came off the bench in the second half and scored in the last minute of additional time to help his side secure a point in Kamalondo.
Mazembe remain third in Group with 2 points and will travel to Dar es Salaam to face Yanga in the return leg on 3rd January.
