The Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) capital, Kinshasa, has been experiencing heavy rains that have caused 22 deaths and damage of property.
The city of Kinshasa has been submerged in water due to the poor drainage system and preparation by authorities.
Kinshasa city governor Daniel Bumba Lubaki is calling on Kinshasa residents to avoid visiting high-risk areas to prevent more casualties.
“Solutions have already been taken; we are evacuating people, children, and pregnant women. The situation is under control, but some families have been affected; the current death toll stands at 22,” the provincial governor declared.
Several residents of Kinshasa have had spend the night under the stars due to heavy flooding from the recent rains experienced in the Congolese capital.
