INTERNATIONAL FRIENDLY: Leopards In Joburg Ahead of South Africa Friendly

The DR Congo national football team have arrived in Johannesburg, South Africa ahead of Tuesday’s international friendly against that nation.

The Leopards arrived in Joburg this afternoon aboard a Fly Cemair chartered flight, the FECOFA communicationS department confirmed.

Sebastien Desabre has taken 24 out of the 28-man squad that beat Sudan 2-0 to qualify for the AFCON last Saturday in Kinshasa.

Four players, including last Saturday’s goal scorer Theo Bongonda of Cadiz in Spain, Turkish-based Besiktas defender Arthur Masuaku, Vital N’simba and William Balikwisha, have since returned to their respective bases for club duty.

The Leopards contingent in South Africa is being led by FECOFA Standardization Committee President Dieudonné Sambi, committee member Sabin Mashini as well as the adviser to the Minister of Sports and Recreation Laurent Ngala.

Desabre will be using Tuesday’s encounter against the Bafana Bafana to be played at the Orlando Stadium at 17:00 hours, to prepare for the November billed 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers.

The Leopards kick-off their World Cup qualification campaign with encounters against Mauritania and Sudan both to be played in November.
