Respected Catholic bishop Donatien Nshole has bemoaned recent comments made by Deputy Prime Minister Jean-Pierre Bemba who accused Priests of being “politicians in robes.”
Last week, the war crimes ex-convict went on radio to peddle lies against Catholic priest whom he accused of receiving bribes from opposition political parties to oppose Félix Tshisekedi and his regime.
Bishop Nshole has reminded Bemba who has forgotten about the great support he received from the same Catholic priests he refers to as politicians during his conviction at the International Criminal Court (ICC).
“I visited him in prison in The Hague as a pastor. If I was as a politician in a robe, I would have brought cameras. I can even describe his cell to you and count the number of barriers crossed. If he doesn’t recognize that, there’s something wrong,” Bishop Nshole said.
Bemba has been concocting several malicious lies in a bid to lure Tshisekedi into appointing him as Prime Minister next year.
