DR Congo’s imposter president Félix Tshisekedi has fired the nation’s National Intelligence Agency (ANR) General Administrator Daniel Lusadisu following a failed coup d’etat attempt which was narrowly foiled by the armed forces last month.
On Friday, the government confirmed the immediate departure of Lusadisu following a presidential order by Tshisekedi who is preparing to ring in more changes at several security institutions of the country.
Tshisekedi looks to tighten his security set-up which has been widely compromised under his tenure as president.
Lusadisu, a doctor specialized in cardiology and emergency medicine, trained at the Royal Military Academy in Belgium and previously served in the Zairian Armed Forces and the Special Presidential Division (DSP).
Tshisekedi has since reappointed Justin Inzun Kakiak as head of the ANR and will be assisted by will be assisted by Justin Mulumba Nsabua, a lawyer at the Kongo Central bar.
Kakiak was previously head of the ANR between March 2019 and December 2021 before he was left into diplomatic service as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to Congo Brazzaville until his reappointment.
Christian Malanga, a former Congelese army officer, headed a coup attempt in which he attacked the speaker of the National Assembly Vital Kamerhe resident and occupied part of the Palais de la Nation, the president’s office, before he was killed by the armed forces.
