Union for the Congolese Nation (UNC) party leader Vital Kamerhe has officially submitted his candidacy for the post of President of the National Assembly in the Democratic Republic of Congo this Monday, May 13.
Kamerhe successfully filed for his candidacy after primary elections in which he was voted as the candidate of the ruling Sacred Union of the Nation (USN), the parliamentary majority, to access the presidency of the lower house of parliament ahead of seating president Christophe Mboso and president of the Senate Modeste Bahati Lukwebo.
Meanwhile, a few hours before the closing date for submission of candidatures, a group of elected representatives of the parliamentary majority grouped within the collective “republican deputies” are against certain candidatures aligned by the presidium of this platform, which accompanied Félix Tshisekedi during the last elections.
According to the calendar, the date of Tuesday May 14 will be devoted to the examination of application files while Wednesday, May 15, will see the lists of selected candidates posted.
Thursday, May 16 marks the start of the electoral campaign with Saturday May 18 dedicated for hearing in plenary session of the candidates’ messages and finally election and official installation of the final office.
