Seven bodies were discovered in the space of a week in several places in the city of Lubumbashi (Haut-Katanga).
Provincial Minister for Interior Affairs Eric Muta Ndala says the seven bodies were all suspected to have been murdered and were discovered thrown in a bag.
Ndala has expressed worry with the modus operandi of the criminal actors.
“In one week we discovered seven bodies. That is not normal because when you observe the modus operandi, you can tell it is sabotage. The security services are already on the ground and the investigations are being carried out. You will notice that the victims are put in white bags with red stripes and that is a clue. This element tells you that it’s a well-established network,” he said.
Ndala has assured residents of Lubumbashi that the security services are hard at work to dismantle the network of assassins:
“The large number of dead bodies were picked up at a bypass road. Here we made the decision to identify all the plots, the unbuilt abandoned residences and we asked the State to take all these entities which serve as cemeteries of the criminals. It’s every year that we see these cases, but this time, it worried us about the modus operandi,” he added.
Tension is rising in the DRC ahead of elections with the population agitated at whispers of rigging.
