FREE STANIS BUJAKERA: Tshisekedi’s Appetite For More Blood Must Be Curbed

It appears President Felix Tshisekedi has a huge appetite for human blood. Under his watch blood has been shed in Katanga where his elite Republican guard massacred over 50 people belonging to UNAFEC. As if that was not sad enough, Tshisekedi sent his army of the elite guard to Goma where they massacred another over 50 protestors.

In July, Tshisekedi drunk Ensemble pour la Rpublique spokesperson Cherubin Okende’s blood. And now Tshisekedi has thrown international journalist Stanis Bujakera in the notorious Makala Prison in Kinshasa where hardcore criminals are held.

Stanis is not a criminal. His only crime is to be an independent and objective journalist who has refused to be hired by President Tshisekedi. And because their millions of stolen dollars have failed to buy Stanis, it is his blood they are after.

If anything happens to Stanis, Tshisekedi will never sleep. The blood on his hands of the Congolese he watches as they die while he mismanages the country is growing at an exponential rate. It’s unacceptable!

Even with the so many challenges the country faces, Tshisekedi’s preoccupation is top arrest a young journalist. That sends a message that this may be beyond the arrest of a journalist but a mission after blood.

We agree with ENVOL president Delly Sesanga when he states, “Detaining a journalist without justification is a habit that has unfortunately become common under the regime of President Tshisekedi. Failing to be able to defend an assessment and a project, this power prefers to try to stifle contradictory voices, in defiance of the free exercise of information provided for by our constitution. We demand the release of @StanysBujakera in the name of the presumption of innocence, freedom of the press and respect for our rule of law.”

We also agree with ECIDE president Martin Fayulu when he states, “The arrest of journalist Stanis Bujakera in unorthodox conditions reveals the arbitrariness that characterizes the regime of impostors. Such intimidation is a serious threat to freedom of expression and the right to information. Let us demand his pure and simple release.”

Yes! Tshisekedi is an imposter. His ascendance to power was shroulded in crookery. Apart from baying for Stanis’ blood, Tshisekedi also wants to delete the journalists’ X account, formerly Twitter.

Stanis has more followers on X than Tshisekedi. It’s a shame what the Congo has become under a Kasai president. But this appetite Tshisekedi has for the blood of Congolese must be stopped. Free Stanis and save his blood.
