The Nigeria national soccer team players have bitterly complained about the treatment given to them in Libya ahead of their Morocco 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers against the Mediterranean Knights billed for Tuesday night.
The Super Eagles have spent over 12 hours at an abandoned airport in Benghazi after being denied access through the exit points under government instruction.
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong writes on X;
“12+ hours in an abandoned airport in Lybia after our plane was diverted whilst descending. Lybian government rescinded our approved landing in Benghazi with no reason. They’ve locked the airport gates and left us without phone connection, food or drink. All to play mind games.”
Libya are also said to have complained about the treatment they received while in Nigeria for the reverse fixture which ended 1-0 in favour of the hosts last Friday in Uyo.
