Democratic Republic of Congo international defender Chancel Mbemba is set to be rewarded with a new contract following an outstanding season with the French Ligue 1 giants last term.
The Leopards central defence pillar was key part in Marseille’s 2022/23 season as he scored five goals and featured 36 times for the club.
Marseille have since resolved to honour the 29-year old centre-half with a new contract with club President Pablo Longoria confirming the agreement reached with the player.
Longoria revealed that Marseille had received approaches from other European clubs in respect with the potential signing of Mbemba.
“A few clubs were interested in Mbemba in July, but after talking to him, we all made the decision to continue together” Longoria said.
Clubs from around Europe as well as the middle east are said to have lined up bids to sign Mbemba this summer.
