DR Congo’s former Minister of Tourism Modero Nsimba has finally been released from Makala Central Prison after spending the past five months in detention.
Sources reveal that Nsimba was released on Tuesday, 13th August 2024 after the Public Prosecutor intervened in his case and will be placed under house arrest.
The former Minister was arrested earlier this year in March for spreading falsehoods following the leaking of a controversial audio in which he revealed several sensitive issues surrounding the assassination of former Transport Minister Cherubin Okende.
Nsimba’s defense counsel had several requests for the former Minister’s provisional release turned down over the past five months.
