TP Mazembe President Moïse Katumbi has congratulated his for their fine TotalEnergies CAF Champions League campaign which ended after a 3-0 semi-final loss to Egyptian heavyweights Al Ahly in Cairo last Friday.
Mazembe reached the last four of Africa’s top club competition this season for the first since 2019 following resilient campaign in which they lost only twice prior to Friday night’s defeat.
After a barren draw in Lubumbashi, Mazembe conceded three times in the second-half of the return leg at the Cairo International Stadium on Friday as Ahly progressed to their fifth straight final thanks to goals from Mohamed Abdelmonem (68), Wessam Abou Ali (86) and Akram Tawfik (90+12).
Katumbi has praised coach Lamine N’diaye and his technical bench as well as the players for a spirited performances in despite defeat on Friday.
The club supremo urged his team to move on from Friday’s defeat and forge ahead and prepare to deliver a strong challenge in next season’s edition of the Champions League.
Katumbi also rallied the supporters to hand the team a warm welcome as they return home from Cairo this Sunday.
