The Rwandan government has moved to refute claims that it had opposed to being part as well as the extension of the Lobito Corridor due to its current political tensions with DR Congo.
Minister of Foreign Affairs Olivier Nduhungirehe has described the claims made by out-going US Secretary of State for African Affairs Molly Phee as false.
“This ‘information’ provided by the outgoing US Secretary of State for Africa is totally false. Rwanda was NEVER associated in any way in the negotiations of the Lobito Corridor,” the Minister wrote on X.
Nduhungirehe clarified that Rwanda never opposed to extension of the Lobito Corridor into its territory and were also never invited to be part of the Lobito Summit held in Luanda in December, 2024.
